So listening to another fairly solid release from Childish Gambino, and a thought struck me. Why are so many people making these sexual references to Kanye West? We have a fairly expected line from Nicki Minaj in Monster:
“I think me, you and Am should menage Friday”
Fine, she’s Nicki, she does that shit. But then we hear from the based god:

.
And now we have Childish Gambino:
I’m heading west like I’m fucking blowing Kanye
Dope lyric, but it’s another one about being on Ye’s dick. Just saying. I mean, he’s a great guy and all, very inspiring and stuff, but how about you leave him alone hip hop? Poor guy’s gonna feel objectified if this carries on.

Nikon - I Am… Radical Face.
So Radical Face is a band that many people have heard of through that advert. Some time around early 2008 we at edr heard Glory. The artist behind Radical Face is Ben Cooper.
A while later, whilst digging into some of his other musical ventures I found Julius Airwave, it was created by Richard Colado who is part of a group called Mother’s Basement with Cooper. These guys seem to have a penchant for strange and obscure titles I grant you, but the music they’ve created is pretty, colourful and different.

I was scrolling through my iPod the other day and I got thinking, there are tons of songs called the “Otherside” or “Other side”… Here are my favourites…
Bruno Mars - The Other Side ft. Cee-Lo Green
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Otherside
Shanell - Other Side (Feat. Ne-Yo & Lil Wayne)
Macklemore - Otherside
Ok so the RHCP song is already above but this remix deserves to be down as well. Enjoy
Red Hot Chili Peppers - My Otherside (Benny Benassi Remix)
KT Tunstall - Other Side Of The World
Bubba Sparxx- The Other Side
Alphaverb - The Otherside
I can’t put down in words how I’m feeling, so I’m gonna leave it to a little short stealin’ (insert sample) if that doesn’t convey my message it maybe a presage to our fate but I still want to be more than a mate… I can’t see it but I still wanna be it, gotta be hoping instead of moping, I mean I’d rather be eloping than groping, so I need to move on from the same old song, gotta getta new love that can fly away with me, dove, pure and white,…. I might even, say your alike but that’d be a spike in the wrong direction, correction, that’d be fatal, the natal, renaissance of feeling, and we’re back to the same loop, da da doom da da feeling.

Lil B - Illusions Of Grandeur
I am a massive fan of the based god, there’s no hiding it. I once had a dream I was a masterchef - it’s that bad. In fact, I am one of those people who have started to find complex meaning in such introspective gems as Wonton Soup and I’m not proud of that. Nevertheless, I would like to think I still distinguish a normal song of his from the ones which genuinely merit some of your time.
With a pretty damn good beat, (can’t go wrong with Imogen IMO), I was instantly won over, complemented by what I think are some pretty thoughtful lyrics, this is a highlight off the Illusions Of Grandeur Mixtape. A fair amount has also been said about pretty mediocre quality of recording at best, but in all honesty I think in this case it works. I also am in awe of his ability to pull of the least relevant tags in his youtube videos:

Thank you based god -kid x
Don’t you just love those songs with dodgy lyrics that you have to sing along to. Just like the Bloodhound gang’s Bad Touch. So here is a little dubstep dirtyness, Cassius (Tha Trickaz Remix) makes the sound of violence oh so appealing. Enjoy :)

(Warning you may not wanna play this too loud on first listen)

Lykke Li on La Blogotheque
We all have those youtube videos which bring us back repeatedly, right? Those moments we would have killed to be there for? Here’s one of mine.
This is Swedish Pop singer Lykke Li with El Perro Del Mar, making something beautiful. You might know her from a remix Tyler the Creator did, or perhaps when Drake used her for a pretty dope track in his mixtape So Far Gone a while back. Or perhaps you know her because she’s fucking sexy. But if you were to follow a Swedish Popstar religiously, she is a good bet, just ask Confusion at P&P.

Macklemore - We at edr have been listening to this guy for a while. He’s got an old school style with a pretty chill sound, certainly worth listening to, if only just to mix up your playlists.
Other awesome Macklemore tunes:
Inhale Deep - I love this tune, it’s smooth flow just makes me wanna lie back, inhale deep and relax.

Otherside - Sensitive, sober lyrics with a diplomatic message.

Wings - A polished almost prophetic sounding tune. Another one for the chill sesh.

Dreamin - Big K.R.I.T
Heard the song a while back, and it blew me away. Big K.R.I.T. has a clean style and the production on this is pretty impressive. But when I saw the video a part of me thought it seemed to take away a little bit from the song, or maybe it’s just me.

Is insanity a vanity?
Don’t let it change me
Let me believe
It’s what makes me
This is thoughtcrime
A bereaved betrayal
Not merely a rhyme
Feelings are fatal
